Design Process

A design contract including the scope of the project and fees will be drafted. We review the contract with you so all are in agreement and ready to proceed. Your trust in us won’t be taken lightly, but will be the pillar of our process.

Through our exclusive, fun interviewing method, your unique style and personality is captured and examined. This determines the design direction of your project.

Design plans including samples, drawings, space plans, pricing and specifications are prepared. When a project dictates the need, an architect, lighting specialist and engineer will be consulted. This process results in a creative, functional and safe environment.

We aim to make this a pleasant experience. Therefore, we limit the selections to 2 or 3 options. At this meeting our goal is to confirm the layout or space planning. We encourage you to ask questions and voice concerns and ideas. Phone conversations are welcome and we will keep you informed of the progress. We will also schedule another meeting to finalize design selection choices and confirm your budget. We meet with you approximately 3 times to make sure the design is complete and you are happy with the direction of the design. Each design phase seamlessly flows into the next in a logical manner.

Our construction team is assembled. At least two estimates are procured for your review and approval. We work hard at developing trusting relationships with our contractors and know their limitations and fabulous talents. If desired, we will also work with your contractors. We are great team players. (Additional fees will be applied and we will not be able to stand behind their work.) After a contractor is selected and a start date is determined, we will begin ordering materials such as tile, wallpaper, counter tops, cabinets etc.…

Construction schedule is submitted. Depending on the scope of work, we discuss any life disruption and how to minimize the inconvenience. Respecting your property and lifestyle as well as continually communicating with you is our primary concern.

We meet with you and the contractor to discuss the details, monitor the progress, and strive to keep on schedule and within budget. Our proactive management skills minimize unexpected issues. We are vigilant to the design plan until it is impeccably executed to completion. Please be aware and try to remember as we go through this process that every job has its surprises. Although we work very hard to prevent them, unavoidable and unforeseeable complications may occur.

We will walk through the finished project with you and the contractor to identify any “blue tape” items that need to be addressed. The contractor will work with you to get these issues addressed with in a timely manner. We will be happy to assist you in making sure these items are addressed
